 Partnerships

Carolina Analytics & Data Science (CADS) is concerned with providing students interested in Data Science opportunities to grow personally, intellectually, professionally, and socially among a support network of students, professors, and professionals. This mission is to be accomplished through events, including a speaker series from industry professionals, data case competition, workshops, and investigating and analyzing University and community data to drive community-based projects and solutions.

What is the Carolina Data Challenge?

The Carolina Data Challenge (CDC) is a data science hackathon held annually at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Participants hack on datasets across a variety of fields, including finance, sports, and social good! The Data Challenge is open to participants of all skill levels, and there will be plenty of resources to help you out along the way.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s Data Challenge will be held virtually on the weekend of October 2nd-4th to keep our hackers and our community safe. Don’t worry; you’ll have lots of opportunities to meet sponsors, learn through workshops, and hang out online with other hackers!

What is the Data Science Day?

The Data Science Day is designed to showcase data science from a perspective focused on research and theory. We aim to introduce participants from technical and nontechnical backgrounds to machine learning and other exciting areas of data science. Explore projects from a variety of disciplines in research, industry and academia. Network with professionals from these fields to expose yourself to the true interdisciplinary nature of data science. Join a celebration of data science through presenting your own project and research work or listening to presentations of undergraduates, graduates, and professionals.

Due to COVID-19, CADS Data Science Day will be held virtually next year to keep our participants and our community safe. Don’t worry; you’ll have lots of opportunities to meet sponsors, learn through workshops, and hang out online with other participants!
